Problem: There is very little awareness of bowel cancer and its symptoms, despite it being the second biggest cancer killer in the UK. Solution: I worked with a fellow student to produce a campaign for Bowel Cancer UK. I generally took on the role of visuals and she produced the copy. Due to some people's embarrassment of the symptoms we have attempted to encourage them to be aware of bowel cancer and talk about symptoms more freely. We created a symptoms card to be shown to a GP when symptoms occur, which can be picked up at the doctors or direct mailed through our information pack in the post. Alongside this we have created a campaign using conversation and speech bubbles, and placing them in situations where people tend to sit around and not talk. |
